Below is a bank of images of foods and goods that became part of the global exchange. Scroll to the bottom of the page (below the images), for directions on how to proceed with the activity.
ACTIVITY DIRECTIONS STEP ONE: Before beginning this activity you will need to read the section in your textbook titled A Global Exchange, this can be found on page 449, (you may use your actual textbook, or open a new browser page to use the online textbook). After you have read the section return to this page for the next step.
STEP TWO: You will need to to create a chart using a "Word" document, follow the steps below.
- Open a new "Word" document, title it "Global Exchange" and save it in your "My Documents" folder.
- You will need to add a "Table" to your page. Click on "Table," then "Insert," then "Tables." Set your table to have 3 columns and 16 rows.
- The top row of your table is for titles. The column on the left should say "Foods/Goods," the center column should say "Continent of Origin," and the column on the right should say "Continent Brought To."
- Copy and paste each of the images from above into the column on the left-hand side of your table. Then, using information from your text or web research fill in the information for where these items originated and to where they were brought as part of the Columbian Exchange.
- When you have finished filling in your chart, be sure that your name is on it, and print it to turn in.
